My Blog
The button below will take you to my blog. While I was attending Michigan State University as an undergraduate, I helped a professor with a writing class. My blog evaluates my experiences and observations during this time. I put into conversation what effective writing instruction looks like.
American Born Chinese written by Gene Wang
The button below will lead you to another website. One of my colleagues and I built a website that justifies using Gene Wang's graphic novel, American Born Chinese, to teach in a classroom. The website also includes teaching artifacts that we created, which can be used to teach Wang's graphic novel.
American Literature Syllabus
Freshman year is a time where students are learning higher level skills of reading and writing. Students will need to learn the skills to become successful for future high school and/or college classes. I want students to really engage with reading the course's texts and writing their own texts. Therefore, I structured this class so that it is extremely dialogic based. I largely believe that students learn best when they learn from each other. Students are then able to compare and contrast their methods of reading and writing with others. I also designed this course syllabus around the goals of teaching students various writing processes and reading strategies. I aim to teach students a wide range of different types of writing, so they will be fully prepared for their future writing endeavors.
